Bookkeeping services so you'll know where you are with your business

I know that when you're running a small business, are self-employed or a sole trader you have to fulfil all roles; sales, marketing, HR and finance. All these roles, all that work, there are never enough hours in the day.

Bookkeeping is one of those jobs that most people hate or put off; stuffing receipts in a drawer, guessing cash flow, tearing their hair out with VAT Returns. Without current, up-to-date books how do you know if you're hitting your targets, in profit, or more importantly making a loss?

I will take away all the stress, make sure your books are kept in good order and are ready to give to your accountant or for self-assessment, so you can get on with running your business and living your life.

My bookkeeping services are very proactive. I will be in touch when something needs sorting, and where possible call or email with a couple of questions and then get everything done for you.

The bookkeeping services you'll require will depend on the size of your company. I can provide help with anything from simple sales and purchase ledgers to management accounts and cash flow. As all business are different I will tailor my bookkeeping services to your needs. I can work from whatever system you're using now, and am familiar with all industry standard software including Sage, Xero, QuickBooks and FreeAgent.

Sales and Purchase Ledger

Sales Ledger involves raising invoices and collecting debts promptly to help cash flow. The Purchase Ledger allocates supplier invoices into ledgers, raising payments and reconciling with supplier statements periodically.

VAT Returns

A tedious but necessary task which has to be completed accurately. It is essential to keep all your receipts to ensure the right amount of VAT either owed to, or due back to you, is correct. I can work out your VAT from scratch or simply check it for you.

Bank and Credit Card Reconciliations

This is another important element to ensure your books are accurate as there are usually timing differences to deal with when reconciling ledgers and bank statements with petty cash, credit cards and bank accounts.

Management Accounts

Management accounts are key to your business plan as they cover profit and loss performance, help with forecasting and setting aside funds for liabilities such as tax. Banks require management accounts to be included in your application for finance.

Cash Flow Forecasts

Keeping sales and purchase ledgers means I can keep a cash flow for you so you can see what you will have left in the bank at the end of the month.

Credit Control

Quite often clients are given 30 days to pay invoices, but without effective credit controls you may find they only pay when they are ready, which can devastate cash flow. I can credit check potential and existing clients, report what is owed and overdue, and issue reminders for outstanding sums.

Year-End File For Your Accountant

I will prepare your year-end reports detailing all the information required to give to an accountant to produce your end of year accounts.
